About this date
Earth Day is marked in schools around the world on 22 April. It is the point in the year when environmental science stops being a topic and becomes a conversation about what your school is actually going to do.
Our Eco in VR workshop was built for this day: pupils visit the ecosystems under pressure, then agree the changes they can realistically make at home and at school.

A date on the calendar is the hook. These are the curriculum outcomes the day is built to deliver.
- 01Pupils compare habitats they will never visit - rainforest canopy, coral reef - with the one in their own school grounds.
- 02The class identifies the specific human activity behind a change they have just seen, rather than being told in general terms that the planet is in trouble.
- 03Pupils describe what biodiversity means using examples they can name, which supports the living things and their habitats units across KS1 and KS2.
- 04Each class leaves with a short list of actions their school could realistically take, agreed by the pupils rather than handed to them.

Everything below is part of a standard booking. Your school provides a large indoor space, a parking space to unload and a member of staff in each session.
- A DBS-checked facilitator for the whole day, from set-up before school to pack-down at the end.
- A fully networked class set of VR headsets and our own eco content, written for primary pupils, plus cleaning kit used between every class.
- Risk assessment, public liability insurance and DBS details in your office inbox once the booking is made.
- Follow-up activities and an action-planning sheet your eco committee can keep working from, useful as evidence towards an eco award.

When it falls, when to book
Earth Day is always 22 April. Schools working towards an eco award often book the surrounding week rather than the day itself, which gives more flexibility.

Before you book
How far ahead should we book Earth Day?
Six to eight weeks is usually enough. Check your own term dates first, because 22 April can fall close to the Easter holidays and in some years lands in them.
Does it have to be on 22 April?
No. Most schools book a date in the surrounding week, which gives far more choice and works just as well for the assembly, the display and the newsletter.
Can it cover every class in the school?
Yes - typically six sessions in a day, covering Reception to Year 6 in a one-form-entry school. The environmental message is pitched to each age group.
What if we cannot give up the hall for the whole day?
Any large, clear indoor space works. Some schools split the day between the hall in the morning and a cleared classroom after lunch; tell us what is available and we will plan the rotation around it.
