Two ways to book

A full day, or a half day

Most primary schools book a full day and put every class through. A half day suits a single key stage, a topic launch or a school that wants to try one workshop before committing to a whole-school visit.

Most bookedUp to 6 sessions

Full day

Up to six sessions of 45 to 60 minutes, running back to back around your timetable. That covers a one-form-entry school from Reception to Year 6 in a single visit, without touching lunch sittings or PE.

Up to 3 sessions

Half day

Three sessions across a morning or an afternoon. Schools use it for one key stage, for a year group studying a particular topic, or to launch Science Week before the rest of the programme starts.

Priced on enquiryQuoted in writingA half day depends on how far we travel and how many sessions you need, so we will not put a headline figure against it. Tell us your postcode and we will price it properly.

The £199 figure is a starting point for a full day, not a full tariff. What your school actually pays depends on where you are, how many classes you want seen and which workshop you choose. Every booking is confirmed with a written quote before you commit to anything.

Included in every booking

The price on the quote is the price

Everything below is part of a standard day. None of it is an optional extra and none of it appears as a separate line on your invoice.

Every visit includes

  • A DBS-checked facilitator with your school for the whole visit
  • All equipment, headsets, tables and consumables, brought in and taken away again
  • Our written risk assessment, sent by email when the booking is confirmed
  • Public liability insurance documents for your office to keep on file
  • Classroom follow-up materials left with your science lead at the end of the day

Compliance paperwork is sent by email when you book, not chased for the week before, so your office has the DBS details, the risk assessment and the insurance certificate on file well in advance.

What can add to the price

Three things that move it

We would rather tell you what changes the number than pretend one rate fits every school. All three are confirmed in the written quote before you book - never added afterwards.

01

Distance travelled

We cover England and Wales, so the journey to a school in Cornwall is not the journey to a school ten minutes up the road. Travel is worked out from your postcode and written into the quote before you commit to anything.

02

A second facilitator

A one-form-entry school is comfortably one facilitator for the day. Two-form entry and above, or a school that wants every class seen in a single visit, usually needs a second person and a second set of kit.

03

Consumable-heavy workshops

The hands-on workshops use materials that are genuinely used up - fingerprint powder, casting plaster, reagents. Where a workshop carries a real materials cost for the number of pupils involved, it is shown on the quote rather than hidden in the day rate.

Questions about cost

Before you ask for a quote

How do we get an exact price?

Send us your school postcode, the date or half-term you have in mind, how many classes you want to see and which workshop interests you. We come back with a written quote covering the day rate, travel and anything else that applies, with nothing added afterwards. Most schools have a figure back the same working day.

Do you take a deposit?

Deposit terms are set out in the written quote and in our booking terms rather than advertised as a blanket rule, because they depend on the size of the booking and how far ahead it is made. Ask when you enquire and we will tell you plainly what, if anything, is due before the visit.

Can you invoice the school and take a purchase order?

Yes. We are used to working with school offices and business managers. We can quote against a purchase order number, invoice the school directly after the visit and send everything your finance system needs. Payment terms are confirmed in writing with the quote.

What happens if we have to cancel or move the date?

Tell us as early as you can. Schools move dates for snow days, Ofsted and staff absence and we would always rather reschedule than lose the booking. The notice period and any charge that applies are set out in the booking terms you are sent when you confirm, so there are no surprises.

Still working out a budget

Tell us roughly what you have to spend and how many classes you need to cover. If a full day is out of reach this year, we will say so and suggest what does fit rather than quote you something you cannot use.

Booking for the year ahead

Tell us your date. We'll do the rest.

Send us a date and a rough number of classes. We will come back with availability, a price and the compliance paperwork.
